Climate Change Reports by Date
Reports 1 - 10 of 640Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments: Four Case Studies of Water Utility Practices
- Case studies of East Bay Municipal Utility District, New York City Dept. of Environmental Protection, Seattle Public Utilities, and Spartanburg Water. (Draft, Aug. 2010)
Agriculture's Role in Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Capture
- How agriculture adds to and mitigates greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. (Aug. 2010)
Climate Ready Water Utilities Toolbox
- "The Toolbox provides a searchable database for water utilities to identify relevant climate change-related impacts and target resources for responding to those challenges, including: Current federal, state, and association activities related to climate change impacts on water resources and utilities; Grant programs that could support climate-related actions by utilities and municipalities; Publications and reports; Tools and models; Workshops and seminars."
Denial of Petitions for Reconsideration of the Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act
- In response to petitions challenging the scientific basis for the EPA's endangerment finding, the EPA says: "The scientific evidence supporting EPA's finding is robust, voluminous, and compelling. Climate change is happening now, and humans are contributing to it. Multiple lines of evidence show a global warming trend over the past 100 years. Beyond this, melting ice in the Arctic, melting glaciers around the world, increasing ocean temperatures, rising sea levels, altered precipitation patterns, and shifting patterns of ecosystems and wildlife habitats all confirm that our climate is changing." Factsheet.
State of the Climate in 2009
- The past decade was the warmest on record, reports NOAA.
WECalc: Your Home Water-Energy-Climate Calculator
- "WECalc will ask you a series of questions about your home water use habits. Based on your replies, it estimates your water use and provides personalized recommendations for reducing that use. WECalc also estimates your water-related energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions."
Informing an Effective Response to Climate Change
- "Climate-related decisions are being carried out by almost every agency of the federal government, as well as many state and local government leaders and agencies, businesses and individual citizens. Decision makers must contend with the availability and quality of information, the efficacy of proposed solutions, the unanticipated consequences resulting from decisions, the challenge of implementing chosen actions, and must consider how to sustain the action over time and respond to new information." (America's Climate Choices series)
Public Environmentally Preferable Procurement System (PEPPS)
- "A networking website designed and operated by, public agencies, local governments and special districts in Silicon Valley. The purpose is to facilitate collaborative thinking and communication towards the pooled procurement of environmentally preferrable products and services."
Climate Change, Water, and Risk
- "The study found that more than 1,100 counties -- one-third of all counties in the lower 48 -- will face higher risks of water shortages by mid-century as the result of global warming. More than 400 of these counties will face extremely high risks of water shortages." Full report: Evaluating Sustainability of Projected Water Demands in 2050 Under Climate Change Scenarios.
Climate Stabilization Targets: Emissions, Concentrations, and Impacts over Decades to Millennia
- "Emissions of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels have ushered in a new epoch where human activities will largely determine the evolution of Earth's climate. Because carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is long lived, it can effectively lock the Earth and future generations into a range of impacts, some of which could become very severe. Emissions reductions decisions made today matter in determining impacts experienced not just over the next few decades, but in the coming centuries and millennia."
